A bit short on notes for this one and it was not broadcast online. I will be recording in the future hopefully and will be doing some video updates here also.

August 12 & 14, 2025 Opioid Settlement Meeting - Industrial Board Meeting

Short updates on a couple of meetings this week.

• No applications for Opioid Settlement funds recently.
• Most of the money being spent or at least most recent receipts seem related to planning and materials for RecoveryFest event taking place in late September. Largest line items being a shipping container for storage (unclear if rented or purchased) and $4100 for custom tents and signage (I am assuming). There was not a quorum at this meeting.
• Industrial Board Meeting has two seats open, one for District 2 and the other for any district. They have about 40K in the account. Working on bylaws.

At the Hickman County Planning Commission meeting, discussion focused on the $174,000 Gresham Smith land-use plan (2 years in the making) —debating a change from 5 to 1 acre minimum lot size—and a proposal to hire a civil engineer to review site plans, with questions over whether commission approval is required (Tennessee code section 13-3-413). The draft report can currently be downloaded from the main page at hickmancounty.gov.

Click the link for more details. I will be following up on the $100,000 grant the county is going to seek for free internet at a couple locations. I would like to see more innovation in how that money is spent.
